Seems like over the last year we, the cantina, have been embroiled in change.

We've gained new family, and we've lost family.

We've changed the way we do things. Remember the days when there was more chatter than knife topics on the H.I. Forums? Now we have this one for off topic, and the other for talking about knifes, Kuhk's in fact. who'd a thunk it?

We've lost a couple of giants that are the reason that frankly there is a cantina, but I think we might be growing our own giants again.

At my employer "change" is a big topic, from quotes like "Good managers embrace change, and Great Leaders accelerate it!" to "the only constant in life is change" and my personal favorite "Change is Good!".

Lets face it, none of us like change, or else they wouldn't be needing to shove it down our throats, it isn't like they are passing out free money (another sore topic) is it? There was a period of time that I didn't post much on here at all, contrary to popular opinion, I don't talk much, and I'm not likely to get it all right when I do post something.

Like most things do, things have changed and I hope to continue here for awhile. I hope you all do as well. As I've said before we're all family, and at my house you can't spell family without "d.y.s.f.u.n.c.t.i.o.n.a.l." of course the next line is "you can't spell dysfunctional without having fun". I hope we can all stand up, dust off our pants, and get back to whatever, we were doing anyway. We've all done it before, and I figure it'll happen again. Shoot, someone's gonna call me short tempered soon, or say that I imagine insults. (shut up munk).

Of course I still get the giggles when I see Nasty as a Moderator, I remember when he was just a young thug.

Anyway I'm off to the bathroom it seems I have a beam in my eye again...

45-70,
Good words. Needed words.

I HATE change. But as you say, it's inevitable. Part of life.

Thanks for the gentle nudge in the right direction.

Steve

:) I always wanted to have someone say "I remember him when..."

Made a great start to my day...Thanks 45-70!

ps: I'm *still* a young thug though. ;)

I think it is Kismet and I who agree " There is nothing so evident as something pointed out to you"
It did need to be said and I too am glad someone said it in better terms than I am able . I actually thought things changed over better than I hoped and put it down to restraint on everyones part . Especially the mods .We have a great bunch of forumites here . I think that there will always be a few feathers ruffled in such a dynamic group as we have here . I don,t mean to belittle any situation .

We *do* have a group of dynamic folks here...that's one of the best parts of the forum. Almost all with the best intentions, but when you have that much energy in a confined sapce, things *can* occasionally heat up a bit.

I think that if the khukuris can take the heat...get harder, tougher, stronger and more resiliant from it, so can we.

After all...Yangdu is *our* kami.

Nope, we're just lulling you into a false sense of security...

(Nasty, got the oil hot and the archers ready to go?)

In all seriousness, change makes me uneasy. It's funny how a bunch of people I've never met, and most likely won't, can affect me so.

Anyone got a winch I can use on this beam?

(Editted for gross grammitical errors)

its a conundrum, alright....resist change; need change to live...I'm always looking back to the Good Old Days.
I don't always know them when they're happening, but I usually do.

The Cantina paint ball challenge . Members against mods (past and present).

Armament modifications allowed .
(Paint balls must remain subsonic.(That way you hear the screams better)

(ABSOLUTELY, NO, DEPLETED URANIUM BASED PAINTS ! )

Folks...these *are* the good old days.

One day you'll be saying "Yeah...Nasty could be a real jerk...but I still kinda miss him."

Carpe diem amicōrum...tempest fugit.

Well said. I'm glad I could be a part of the change, and be pretty readily accepted at that. It's a great group, and as long as there's still some of the older, wiser ones to school the young'ins as they come in, it'll stay that way.

You got the jist of it...or I did. I've forgotten more Latin than I used to know.

Sometimes the young ones are doing the schooling

45/70;
This is a neat thread and a great idea. Unfortunately, I think those forumites most worried about change in the forum are not taking advantage of the thread and posting here.

This is everyone's forum. If people will not put forth their concerns, how can there be positive change or correction?

If we work together, we have less excuses to be unhappy.

...The two Pilots left a year ago, the Transition Team has disbanded, and the reformatted Mod Team just started. This would be a good time to air problems, fear, (licey or just cold sweats) and even good things.

A person can always keep quiet.
A person can direct his concerns about 'change' when he interacts with a specific post or forumite.
A person could use this thread to address general problems.
A person can say nothing publically but privately undermine the forward progress of the Steam Ship.

Being a former Government employee, I have sympathy for the last person, as part of the job, but if you don't speak up you'll get angry and bitter inside. Not good. Better to speak up.

Nasty will accept signatures on the Palace Coup initiative.

There's no coup...Yangdu is in charge.

I just help sweep the place up.
