Not sure if the right forum to post, just wanted to mention it. I chose "College Bladesmith" without realizing that Smith means forging knives, and I do stock removal. So I decided to just use my name.
I feel better about it. It was kind of a dumb name and really just showed that I didn't understand what a bladesmith is. But of course, even more than before, I need to be careful of what I say!
Just as an aside, …. smith as a suffix means "craftsman" or "worker". As a noun it means to strike metal.
Compare to woodsmith, wordsmith, songsmith, tunesmith, gunsmith,
It is only a recent thing that bladesmith has been a no-no for knifemakers who do stock removal. Personally, if you make knives you are a bladesmith.
The argument gets really silly when you consider that virtually all "smithed" knives have to be finished by stock removal.
