While I was trying to convince steelscout30 to buy a Pentagon (everyone should own at least one), I double checked the price and specs.

I just noticed the SOG website lists a couple of new changes for the Pentagon.

First, the logo is different. This picture shows the SOG "bullet cutter" logo. Does that mean the famous "SOG box" logo isn't being used anymore?

Second, the specs list the finish as "powder coated"? Is this true? New Pentagons have the powdercoat finish used on the SEAL 2000? No more shiny satin finish?

P.S. the browser bar for the window in Firefox reads "Sog Petagon". (no "N")

The Mini Pentagon has that grey coating on it.

It may act like a protective coating, but I am convinced that it's not heavy duty material. Mine just wore off in time, getting scuffed through internal sheath-friction wear. Maybe a good idea for SOG to do away with the "gray paint" coatings once and for all!

You're right, the mini-Pentagon has the powdercoating and has always had it.

What's getting me is that now it's listed as a spec for the regular Pentagon.

See for yourself under "Specs".

Finish Powder coated

New logo and a new finish???

oops.... not powder coated... still satin finish... it does have the new logo though...

Thanks for the clarification, Chris!

So that's two fixes the SOG webmaster has to make!

No powdercoated Petagons. ;)
