Changes you would make?

I've been looking at my Boy's jack recently and comparing it to older knives I own. Even though I like it a lot, I've had this feeling that it needs or is missing something ever since I bought it. I wanted to know what you guys thought.

-A shield. To me, it looks a bit plain and boring. I know it is meant to be more economical, but adding a shield would be a nice touch.
-More cover choices- Again I know boy's knives usually had plain wood or bone covers, but maybe some of GEC's acrylics would do this pattern good.
-Barehead configuration- Again more of a preference thing. I think this knife would look awesome with one set of bolsters. I was comparing this boy's knife to my new-old Remington jack and I feel the Remington is a good example of what I would like to see. You be the judge.

We are so used to seeing shields, that it looks like something is missing, if you are not used to looking at simpler knives.

Trust me, many of my knives are shield-less. I just thought this specific knife would look good with one is all.

I like these as-is. I might dye mine a darker brown-red though (there are some patches of bone too light for my taste.)

Coping secondary and I'd really like an EO option....maybe even a barehead. I like the color and lack of a shield.

That's a nice looking knife no matter which way you cut it but my preference for this particular knife would be to leave off the end-cap. That's why I have a barehead (clip blade version) Boys Knife winging it's way to me as I speak - errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, type.

I think there is a good chance we'll be seeing a spearpoint #15 soon, because it is already being made just with a clip point.
And as much as I love easy open jacks, I doubt it will happen with this pattern because there wouldn't be enough room for the notch without interfering with the secondary blade.

It's hard for me to write this because the 15s are so incredibly awesome as is and because I know so little about jacks compared to most here, but I think they would have looked better if they were just a bit wider. Something along the lines of Charlie's HJ2.

Looking at your knife all I would change is the bone. Darker and more random.

I like bolsters in case you drop the knife. I've dropped my ebony EO 85 with no cracks though.

Idk either way that's a nice looking knife IMHO.

Kevin.

Btw too often I don't like the shields. No shield is better than one that doesn't suit your style.

Maybe it's time to order up a custom.

I love the design, I really do. I think it will be huge for GEC. I do feel, as always, that they need to put a little more attention into the bone jigging. I mean, they could make some of the most amazing jigged bone I just know it! I can even live without a shield but I would love more attention to the bone.

Here is what I would change. I would make the top bolster longer. Stamp it, and get rid of the rear bolster, and put ebony handles on it................................

Then it would be a two bladed TC barlow with ebony! Woo hoo!

I do like the Boys knife, too.

I have the same knife, with ebony scales.
I would like a barehead version, but it's no big deal to me.
As for the shield, although I got used to shields, I was raised without them :D so I don't really miss one on this knife, although it could look good with one as well.
As for the handle material, I got the ebony version. Which means that, unless maybe an ivory version, I wouldn't change it for anything else.
The only thing that I would change in my knife is the pull mechanics (it's pretty uncomfy to me). But, aside from that, this knife looks great to me, and is a terrific knife.

Turn it into an EO and make the pen a coping blade and change the scales to barehead ebony.... then if you want, add a shield of your own design...... maybe something like "EO"
