Changing CS Recon Tanto to something else

Hello everybody!


I think you know that itch, when there is a feeling that one of the knives in some category should be switched/upgraded.

For fixeds I got 4" hidden tang Scandi knife and ColdSteel Recon Tanto.

For some time now I'm going on mountain day-hiking. Actually, there is not much of a knife work, but still...

I don't know if it worth it, but I was considering changing Recon Tanto with AUS8a to something more stylish or popular.

Here are candidates:

  • ESEE-6, ESEE-4
  • Peltonen M95/M07
  • Becker BK5
  • BRKT STS-4, Gunny
  • Entrek Havalina, Companion

Yep, some of them are shorter than 7".

Does it worth the hassle? What you think? Maybe some other options?

First I assume you mean trade instead of change. If not, how much do you charge? :)

I really like the ESEE 4 unless you plan to baton wood, then something with a little more length would be appropriate. The "4" is a great all around blade.
 
worrying about "stylish or popular" should be about the last thing on your mind. unless you really want to impress the trees or something...

that said, I'm bout a big fan of tanto style blades and would rather have an esee or Becker or something.
