I started out buying sog and kershaw 15 or so years ago moved up to bench-

made, spydies 2 years ago and Im now ready for my first crk. Do you find

yourself doing the same thing ( moving up the quality ladder) or do you stay

with the same 1 or 2 brand names ?

I have a little bit of everything, but most of my folders are Spydies. Not because I seek them out, but they just make good stuff that attracts my attention - Delicas, Endura, Millies and so forth. Good stuff.

I find myself moving into different types of knives rather than brands. 10-15 years ago it was Spyderco and Benchmade folders and large Cold Steel Fixed blades. I collected Randall and Ruana fighters and Gerber MK II daggers. Now I'm gravitating towards smaller & mid size custom fixed blades and larger production folders from different brands that work better with-in my Eskrima and Kajukenbo skill sets.

For my folders i mainly use Spyderco.

For my fixed blade I was a Becker fan for many years, but got a Scrapyard Dumpster mutt and never looked back and now i'm a diehard Scrapyard, Swamprat and Busse fan.

I find myself moving up in size rather than brand. Although it does seem like the quality of knives moves up as well...

All I buy now are Busses and Striders, although I do have other brands as well.

I started with Buck knives in the '60s.
since that time I've bought Gerbers, Leatherman, Cold steel, Spyderco, SAK, Benchmade ....
Now I'm back to liking Buck knives.

I started as a kid with SAKs and Old Timers. After discovering Spyderco, I have stuck with them as far as folders. I love Spydies.

For fixed blades, I went through a brief stint as a Busse man but lucky got over that fairly quickly and now I prefer Bark River fixed blades. Those full height convex grinds without a coating cut like nobodies business!

I did that 'til I got a William Henry. The price gave me a nose bleed and its been all downhill ever since!

yep just like you said it. worked my way up to better quality and higher priced knives. what was impressive to me years ago is a cheapy to me now. ive peaked @ a high dollar william henry folder so far.
