Changing Out Quenching Oil - Rinsing Tank

I have two quench tanks and want to change out the oil and swap which oil is in each tank. My larger tank has canola and the smaller one has Parks 50. I am going to ditch the canola, it is old, and I want to put the Parks in the canola tank. What level of cleaning do I need to do...I don't want canola residue to contaminate/mess up the Parks. I was thinking to let it drain well and then mix up a bucket of a degreaser and pour it in, rinse, and let dry thoroughly. Thanks!

Hot water and dawn dish soap will get most oily residue out of nearly anything.

Blue dawn is amazing stuff for oil removal, they even use it to clean up wildlife after crude oil spills.

Thanks guys...will try that.....didn't want to over think this, but also didn't want to mess up a few gallons of Parks.

The major thing is to dry the tank well and let it sit for a few days to get rid of any retained water. A tiny amount of water would be far worse for the Parks than a cup of canola would be.

Definitely, was planning on putting it in garage next to the furnace for a couple of days....driest/warmest place I have. My canister is an old howitzer gun powder cartridge tube.

Well the oil swap is complete....ended up using some pressure sprayer concentrate that cuts grease...worked well.

I put my old used up canola oil in a 5gal bucket...when I leaned over to pick it up, my Samsung phone took a plunge...I am happy to report that the phone still works, I guess being oil and being somewhat viscous that it did not seep into the vitals and short out anything....I wiped it down quickly and cleaned up with a degreaser on a rag and good to go....it just smells like a quench.
