Changing Scales

I see some people have changed out their scales on some of their knives. I have recently purchased a Benchmade 570 Presidio II and was curious if I can do this and where is a good place to find them? I am new at this and this is the first one I own that looks like it can be dissasembled with what appears to be Torx screws. I AM a bit worried about the internal spring (manual folder). Is this an easy swap? I did find a site that makes them custom, but it appears they are in Germany and its a bit difficult to read and navigate their site. I really like some of the fancy woods, and burl wood.

Lots of people like to add custom scales to their favorite knives. It tends to personalize and make a knife your own.

https://www.bladeforums.com/forums/the-custom-shop-services-offered.870/ Is a subforum with a lot of craftsmen who can help you get custom scales to your liking. The vendor you mentioned in Germany is probably Wilkins and they do excellent work. Even online retailers like BladeHQ are carrying aftermarket scales, clips and hardware. Pimping knives is big business so feel free to have fun.

One word of caution: the Benchmade Axis lock can be a pain in the butt to maneuver in your first pimp job. Maybe practice with some other knives first or find a craftsman who’s willing to install the scales for you. Whenever I take down an Axis lock knife I invariably end up appealing to my wife for her smaller fingers and better eyes!:p

Thats awesome thanks! And yea, my hands are rathee big, hence the large knife I like. And eyes, reading glasses becoming a staple quickly.

They have an English FAQ on their website that helps a bit (in case you mean Custom Scale Division), otherwise if you need help with German Translation feel free to ask, I can help.

You can pretty much just order via Email in English from them if I am not mistaken.
