Hello
I have bought the Becker bk2 and I want to change the handles.
I'm in doubt, should I make permanent or removable handles.
What are the pro and cons.
Can anybody help me with that.

Thanks Jan, from the Netherlands

Permanent handles can make the blade stronger if you epoxy them on. BK2s aren't known for breaking, though.

Beckers are carbon steel that is painted, so it is nice to be able to refinish them after a lot of use. Removable handles make it much easier to refinish and otherwise care for the metal. So removable would get my vote.

FYI - There is a Becker sub-forum.

Here, take a look at this thread. It is a whole thread based entirely on handle mods for Beckers, 11 pages worth.

Covering the steel of the handle will make the knife feel warmer due to not having any exposed steel, think pukko or leukko, though that will make the grip significantly larger around unless you just throw 2 ranger bands over the palm part of the scales.
Good luck
