Changing title of thread in forum

How do I change the title of my thread when visible in the individual forums?

There's a quirk in the software -- sometimes editing the title of the first post in the thread also changes the thread title but sometimes it doesn't. If it really needs to be changed a moderator can do it another way that always works -- post a link here and I'll do it for you.
