Channellock Rescue Tool for Urban Survival

I've been eyeballing that one for a year or so. It seems like a quality tool, but the price made me wait.

That is an exceptionally attractive tool. The price is not too bad, considering what other multitools cost, often for small "finesse" tools rather than this heavy-duty concept. It would go great alongside my fence tool.

Thank - you for the link! Never saw this - excellent combination of tools in one. I'll be getting one.

I have seen them at one of the major stores for about $49.00 bucks I thought about picking one up myself, may do it in the near future.

channel lock makes good stuff. Wish the handles would have their blue dippped insulation on them. Looks a great tool to leave in the vehicle. At 26 ounces I sure wouldn't be carrying it around often.

I'm gonna want one for the Jeep !!
Not seen them around these parts yet.

Huh, my dad works for Channellock. I remember him talking about these when they first came out a couple years ago. I'll definitely have to see if I can pick one of these up next time I'm in town...for free :)

By the way, I've yet to use a pair of pliers or wrenches better than Channellocks.

I have Klein linesman tools, some prybars, and things of that nature, but nothing that packs those functions in such a small package. That Channellock would be really handy for a BOB, or for a cop to keep in his bag on patrol.
Still not cheap, but a local hardware store has them for ~$40, IIRC. Not bad if you consider the Kleins just have the plier part, and are only about $10 less. I like it:)
Wouldn't mind having one of those to keep in the truck, since those other tools aren't actually in there most of the time-which means they won't do much good if I need them.

They have two models one with the plier end (the 88) and one with a shear end which is similar to a cable cutter (the 89).

Now I just need to figure out which I want.

I want the pliers. The shears would probably be more useful if you're a dedicated rescue serviceman, but for civilian urban survival I think the pliers would be more applicable.

Just wrap some Silicone Rescue Tape around the handles... Job Done!

Looks a little too gimicky for me. Aside from the spanner wrench, a good multitool can probably perform most of the same tasks (besides, how often do you need to loosen/tighten fire hose couplings??). Obviously this tool is geared towards safety personnel but for the average citizen this thing seems silly to me. Like i'm really going to carry something that weighs 26 ounces and is around 12" long (insert joke here) I don't think so. Just my opinion.
