I picked up a Chaos trench knife last week mostly because I couldn't find a 1918 trench knife with a decent blade and a actual bronze handle. I was surprised at just how much I like the Chaos, really a well done trench knife, very nice and close copy of the Robbins of Dudley knuckle knife.

So I decided it needed a little more classic looking sheath, kind of a fusion of modern and WW2. Its kydex covered with canvas and then added a leather tip and belt hanger.

I'm not completely satisfied with it, glueing canvas to kydex before you drill for the eyelets was a mistake, unless you really want your canvas in a wad around the drill bit, and sewing the leather works better if you do it by itself and then attach it to the sheath. The glue I used wasn't great for canvas and kydex either probably should have used something specific for plastics. Oh well its together and works if after a while I just can't stand the mistakes I'll redo it.

Thanks for looking.

I think it looks very cool Dave, and looks like a lot of work too; but I have no idea what a trench knife is; I'm a true neophyte :)

Most trench knives were designed and used during the trench warfare of WW1. There were numerous designs used by all the different armies, the more famous of the ones produced for American forces was the 1918 basically a knuckle duster out of bronze with a 6 1/2 inch dagger blade. However it didn't get designed and made until too late for WW1 so it was issued in limited quantities mostly to the airborne in WW2 its also the knife you see Lee Marvin using in the "Big Red 1". The Robbins knife was issued during WW1 and thats the one that the Chaos actually is very close a copy of.

Thank you for the compliment on the sheath it wasn't particularly difficult to make just annoying when everything doesn't turn out exactly how I planned it lol.

Fun.

I'd love to own a few trench knives. I've never bought them, because of limited carriability in my neck of the woods.

Thats very kind of you and I'm glad that I've been able to help you loose all control of your wallet lol. Really your kind words mean a lot to me. Thank you.

I think the sheath looks great, Dave! You definitely achieved the old/new look that you were hoping for. Nice work, and thanks for sharing!

That looks great, nice job!

That whole belt rig definitely has the old school look, it's a very well put together kit, I hope that you have lots of fun with it.
