Chaparral CQI - more screws, chamfered lockback

I just picked up a new carbon/G10 scaled Chaparral and apparently Spyderco has CQI'd this little guy. Pics on the web show only two screws visible on the scales, mine has 4. The lockback "button" on mine also has a bit of chamfering, I know folks have complained about the 'sharp' edges on that button in the past - I was actually planning on chamfering mine myself, so I was happy to see it's already been done.

Now a question on lockbacks in general (this is my first) - the button does take a lot of pressure, you have to push HARD on it. Will that ease up with use? If not, has anyone tried bending the springbar themselves to adjust the tension? I know that tension is also used to keep the knife shut...but I think I could ease it up some and it would still stay safely closed, and be much easier to open.

It will ease up but you can also slide the spring back in the slot and this will reduce the tension. No need to bend anything! I’m sure somebody will post link to the specifics or it is easy to find the info on the Spyderco forum.

Hey, good info! I've seen pics/video of the inside but haven't taken mine apart just yet, I've only had it in hand a few hours haha.

I moved the spring in the slot and the 'button' is WAY easier to press now, it's like a whole different knife!

Did that and stored it partially open for a good 3 months, made a huge difference.
