I ordered a Chaparral FRN about a month and a half ago...and it’s still out of stock. Any idea how long it typically takes for a new batch of knives to come in from Taichung?

Sal mentioned another CQI on the Chaparral FRN in a recent thread. So if that is true it might be a while until another batch hits retailers.

Hi Gamecock,

They were more popular than we anticipated. The next run is in production. Apologies.

Just some fine tuning of the spring tension.

Sal - was the beveling of the lock bar edges a past CQI? I almost didn’t buy mine when many reviews said the bar edges were harsh on thumbs, low and behold mine comes much smoother and definitely not a hard 90* angle, it is a believe the second production run (can’t recall the code).

Hi John,

We softened the edges on the lock bar some time ago.

That was a good idea, much better on the hands.

Is any change considered a “CQI” or does it have to meet a certain degree of variation? Ie Things that are minor (like the Chap edge chamfering) vs major (like the ceramic detent ball on the SpydieChef)

Hi John,

We CQI as we become aware of issues of which our customers ( end line users ) inform us or we discover in testing..

I purchased a new Chaparral a few weeks ago from Knivesshipfree. Love the knife, but the lock has calloused my thumb and is making an otherwise great knife difficult to enjoy. Is there anyway to send the knife in for a remedy? I wouldn’t mind to pay if there is a fix. It’s my favorite knife at the moment, and I will continue to carry it either way.

Thanks for a great product.

Hi John,

You can send it in, we can adjust it for you.

I'll alert Charlynn.
