Chaparral in very high end steel

I like my Chaparral, the original version in twill CF. I would like to see more knives like this, but with a higher end steel. S30V is OK, but I would really like to see ZDP, or another comparable steel.
I am not a fan of metal handles, so the Titanium model doesn't appeal to me. I would certainly be interested in more knives that are this size, perhaps with more cutting edge and less of a choil.
Despite minor quibbles, I like the Chaparral enough to get two of them.
What variants would any forum members like to see?

IIRC, the Chap was slated to come with XHP, and will, in the future, beginning with the upcoming Ti Stealth model.

The Chaparral is supposed to be like the Sage series and come out with a new model every year in different handle and blade materials.

So hang on for a while and maybe some of the next versions will have what you are looking for.

I don't recall that the steel is going to change regularly (other than from the first model release)

But I was wrong once before...

The plan was for XHP. The first model was S30V because XHP was running behind in production. The next model is XHP.

Sal gave an estimate of August-September, but then again its only an estimate. Spyderco has top notch QC and I have no problems waiting, since I still have to gather funds for the Chap 2 :D

I'd love to see one in Odin's Eye Damasteel with Des Horn style polished and grooved G-10 scales.

Count me in for the Chaparral Titan...Seems like folks are generally anticipating the Fluted Native5 more, but I'm excited for both. Hope the price point allows me for one to stash and one to play with at release!

The Titan "stealth" (not black, scales shaped like Steath aircraft) is in and being checked in QC. The one I'm carrying (production test piece) is, IMO, exquisite, but then again, I'm biased, The design was a long time coming. We began the design long before we kmade the CF version. Should be out in September.

Hi Paul, Odin's eye damascus is tougher. I think Ed Schempp can make us some. the volume we would require scares most quality custom damascus makers.

Holy crap! Sal could you please confirm if the Titan is a production model?

He's talking about the titanium-handled Chaparral, not a new knife called the "Titan" ("stealth" refers to the pattern engraved on the scales, not the overall shape of the knife). And it's a production model like the first CF one. :)

Hehe! Yeah I figured Titan was a shorter name for Chaparral Ti. I had a feeling that since the price point for the Chaparral Ti was pretty high and considering the high quality materials used and its unique design it'd be a sprint run.

Are the scales sculpted or are they flat? I think they are flat, but the pictures aren't clear. I don't really like metal handled knives, but this one I might get.

It's machined flat, but the machining is on different angles. Very close tolerance stuff. Hard to imagine without having one in your hand.

My understanding is that "Titan" is SalGlesser-ese for titanium, in reference to *any* knife, not just the Chapperall... I think that is the makers vernacular for titanium over-seas, whereas we shorten "titanium" to "ti".
