My wife likes the size of her Kershaw Skyline but hates getting her fingers in the blade’s path when she’s closing the linerlock. She grabbed a Endura from the car the other day to cut some bagels and mentioned that she like the back lock

I’m thinking of getting her a smaller back lock knife in premium steel. Budget is less than $100. Should I pick up a Chaparral LW, a ZDP Delica or something else?

TIA

Spyderco Sage 5 if you want something small that wont have your fingers in the way. Thank me later. Its worth the extra 30 or 40 bucks.

Probably the delica otherwise.

I’m looking at the Sage 5 and Para 3 but the drawbacks are the thicker blades, weight and S30V steel. I mean, I’m trying to sell most of my S30V knives and move to at least xhp.

I'm thinking for every day use,the Delica can't be beat. I have 3 Chaparral's,its an awesome little knife for sure.
According to your post the knife may be used for many different chores, that's why I picked the Delica. The blade is longer, and the back lock has a boye dent, for some folks its easier on the thumb. If your wife liked the Endura, the Delica is the smaller companion.

The Sage 5 isnt that heavy. Unless the rest of my knives are just ultra heavy. And Nothing wrong with S30V. People love their super steels, but most of them dont actually use them to their full potential. S30V works for like 80% of knife collectors.

Yeah, 3.2 oz is hardly anything along her ccw, holster and extra mag. I know S30V works great. I bought my first Spyderco in early 2000 in S30V and it’s a Para1 in plain old satin. Still have it in the collection. But man, it’s 2018 and we have so many options.

Ok, if I had to chose one model that does it all for me,it's the Caly3 Hap40 hard to find as it was a sprint run.

My GF has lots of knives now but still carries the Delica and Dragonfly the most. I'm certain she cares more about the purple FRN more that the blade steel.

Nice, I didn't know about this sprint run. I would really like to find one for myself as I don't have anything in Hap40.

I totally get what you're saying. My wife is pretty much all about the colors. I have to do all the sharpening and find that VG10 and S30V get dull pretty dang fast.

You also have the option of Boomer52 scales which turns it into the Lil Para. I like it because a good EDC needs a finger choil.
Boomer52 has great work.

Oh man, one of the reasons that I was looking at the Chaparral was the lack of finger choil on the Delica. Thanks for sharing this.
One of the first images you find on Google, ironically, is for the Delica I bought like this. Beautiful design, it's what the Para 3 should be.
