Does the Chap Ti have the same type kind of system as the Chap CF to prevent vertical blade play? I ask because it does not seem to have liners, so maybe the channels are milled out of the titanium?

That's pretty awesome, I don't know why this design characteristic doesn't get more play. I mean, aside from spine whacks, this design is pretty much indestructible and probably has great wear characteristics. I need one of these knives.

Is that your Chaparral in the photo above? Asking only to see if you know the size of the knife. When I got mine I was a bit underwhelmed by its size. Really thought it would be bigger but despite its size it's really grown on me. Almost did a catch-and-release but now I'm glad I didn't.

ive used my chaparral2 for construction and has been my main edc for about 5 months. the internal stop pin eliminates play at the start, but if you use it harder then it likes then it may develop a TINY bit of vertical play. mine has some, but its still considerably less then most lockbacks.

pics just for fun :D

It's not mine, I think it's a old picture posted on the spyderco forums. Kind of looking for something smaller - sub 3inch blade.

I like the cf Chaparral and would like to get a titanium one, but the engraving on the scales is a complete turn-off. How difficult would it be to polish them? I have no idea concerning what is involved in polishing and refinishing titanium.

The angular pattern on the Ti is raised as well as grooved so there would need to be a significant amount of material removed to get them smooth. Not to say it can't be done with the proper equipment and patience...

Yes it has the same hidden stop pin, as for stonewashing the design off the Ti one? It's 3d machined, but where there's a will there's a way... Here's one I did awhile back :)

That is amazing, So-Lo. Thanks for sharing. I love the blue and the faux bolster. Subscribed to your channel, too.

P.S.- I was aiming for something much simpler that could be done in my garage.

Have you had a chance to handle the titanium in person? I only ask because I felt exactly the same way until a couple of weeks ago when I got to see one at knifeworks. I think it is the prettiest spyderco I have ever seen! What looked kind of cheesy in pics was gorgeous in person! Just my 2¢.

Me and my dad both have a cf chap and they are both rock solid lockups. The chap2 lasted 4 months of construction before developing the minimal play it has. If u use the knife for what it is designed for you won't have that problem :D
