chaparral versus techno

I've had both. The Chap has a thinner, slicier blade. Is slicier a word? It also has a 4 finger grip if you use the choil, weighs less and has a lockback verses frame lock for the Techno. Techno has better fit & finish but the Chaparral is nice also. Both have deep carry wire clips but the one on my Techno sucks. I put a Manix2 clip on it and like it better. I like the Techno better but that's just personal opinion. They are both great knives.

I also have both knives, I work in a steel mill and since I've gotten my techno I take it. Its stonewashed frame shows little scratches and I'm not worried I'm gonna chip or break the blade because of its thickness. The chaparral I have is the stepped titanium. I rarely carry it but I love the knife. Its deff a gentlemens folder to me.

Techno is a much more stout knife, they are similar in length but the Techno can handle much more heavy use. Both very nice looking but I prefer the Techno for everyday use. Picture of them together and a Sage 1 for size reference.

I will preface this by saying that I dont have EITHER, but I feel like there are more gentleman folders akin to the Chaparral, than beefy, utilitarian blades akin to the Techno. I have a Sage 1 and 2, and would pick up a techno next, if that means anything to ya.

I just feel like the techno is more of a workhorse, where the chap is more of a dress knife, which I have more of. YMMV.

I too have/had both. Still have a CF Chaparral. It is a terrific slicer, EDC, and gentleman's knife. Sold the Techno. For me, it's too overbuilt and heavy for its small length.

I have both, like both, and carry both. The chap is a very light weight slim easy to carry knife. The Techno is a little muscle knife. The pics above are revealing. Seneca18's comments tell the tale well. I like the beefiness of the Techno and it just feels good in hand. The chap is a better slicer, but both cut well enough for most uses. The chap is better for slicing fruit ;) and hardly noticeable in pocket. Great office knife. The Techno just feels much more robust and you can put more pressure into cuts. And it is noticeably heavier in pocket. Where am I going with this... dunno, they are very different and I rotate them depending on what pants I am wearing :)

I will echo others.. The Chap though has sharp edges, which bothers me to no end. Great slicer but isn't easy to flip with the spyderco hole as others and the techno.
I still have the techno.
My opinion is the sage 1 would be more fitting for me than the chap.

for a small pocket carry EDC i mostly use my native or sage 1,i don't own a chap, but after reading all the + post hear,i just my get the techno!been eye-balling this little folder for lots of years now, seems like a vary stout and somewhat practical knife!(practical) is just a world throw out there.;)
