Chaparral vs. Delica as a Beater Knife

It's been well documented that the Delica-4 can be used and abused and still keep on going. Can that be said about the Chaparral? I know it's not been out terribly long and it's touted as being a "Gentleman's Folder", but was wondering if any owners beat the crap out of their Chap and how it's holding up to that abuse.

The blade is pretty thin on the Chaparral for beating. Although, there is someone on here who used his for house renovations or something. Also, you can buy two Delicas for the price of one CF Chaparral, so doing the math, the Delica wins as a knife to use hard.

Guess it depends on what your idea of "beating the crap out of" a folding knife. Never stabbed a car door with a Chaparral or batoned it through a log but, as luck would have it, Sal sent me a pre-production CF Chaparral for evaluation shortly before I started packing up for my move from NY to SC and I decided to give it a good workout. It became my "go to" knife for cutting everything from bubble wrap to heavy tri-wall corrugated cardboard. The later included cutting a couple 12" diameter circles to protect the glass face of a clock and making some cuts where I know I was putting considerable side load on the blade. Then it got another workout at the SC end opening and breaking down boxes. Lock up is still as tight as the proverbial duck's butt.

Yes, it was Deacon's story I had remembered. The Chaparral has a very good lock. But, if you break a $100++ knife when you could have used a similar $50+ knife, it is crying time for sure.
