Well I'm back again to tell about yet another outstanding, generous and compassionate member that I believe all of you will agree with me that he is one of the pillars of the Porch. His name is Gary but we know him here as 5K Qs 5K Qs or GT. He is a math professor by day, a knife nut by night and an incredible human being all the time. When I went through my hardships a few months ago I had to sell off my knife collection GT bought a 5 knife lot from me for which I was grateful. Last week GT sent me a PM which did not surprise me as we do chat from time to time however the content of the message did surprise me. This is part of what GT had to say that surprised me.

"Will you please send me your new mailing address so I can return to you the knives I rented from you back when you needed to raise some cash? Once I have your address, I should be able to get to the post office Friday or Monday and send back your Vic Farmer, Camillus TL29, Camillus Cub Scout knife, and an Imperial scout knife. (You probably remember that I sent your Royal Ambassadors knife to Barrett, so I can't return that one.)"

I told GT that I still had no money for any purchases other than the essentials to live and could not refund him for the knives or for that matter couldn't even buy a Rough Rider right now. He said they were mine and he was sending them back no monies to exchange hands. Another of our member friends @btb01 like me has deep roots in the Royal Ambassador Organization had expressed a desire for the RA camp knife So GT sent it to him. So other than that knife yesterday those knives were sitting in my mail box.
GT thank you my friend.

It shouldn't because I see it often and especially in this subforum ...

but it still surprises me a bit at times how generous ... and not just generous but caring the people can be to other ... often others they barely know ...

I love the forums and 99% of the people I've met ... but if I'm ever havin a bad day ... usually just a stop through and read some threads and get reminded of all the good folks I'm lucky to be part of.

So this may be a little bit of a tangent, but let's recap this mathematician's great achievements:

When Randy was down on his luck, GT divided the pain by borrowing some knives in exchange for cash.
Then, GT subtracted one of the knives he borrowed, and added it to btb01's collection.
Now, he's multiplied Randy's joy by returning his knives at no cost.

If my calculations are correct, we can confirm that GT is a really, a really good math teacher.

100%, A+ work 5K Qs 5K Qs !!!

Outstanding work here! You get an A+ Joshua!
I can vouch, I've been on the receiving end of Gary's awesome generosity!

Glad they arrived, Randy! I hope the few months they spent with me didn't leave them too worse for wear. And my sending your own knives back to you isn't such a big deal, especially when you think of how many knives you generously gifted to folks over the past couple of years!!:thumbsup::cool::) Joshua mentioned some nice math concepts, and we could have a lesson on fractions here: I'd estimate that the 5 knives I rented and returned are far less than 1/10 of the number of knives you've sent out to make people's day!!:cool::cool::thumbsup:

It's easier to get back on your feet with some good knives. And some good friends make it easier all around.

I am glad to read this story.
