Which sheath would you get for the Leatherman Charge and why?

I always get the nylon if I can help it. My experience has been they tend to take abuse better, they're easier to clean if they get really dirty, they feel more comfortable to me than the stiffer leather pouches, and they don't scream "I'M CARRYING A MULTITOOL OR KNIFE!" like leather can.

I'm with DeadManWalking. I prefer Nylon. IMHO it seems to hold up better to abuse i.e. it retrains its "new look" longer then leather.

I like the nylon better. It looks like a cell phone and is very comfy. I remember my wave leather sheath was cumbersome and I bought a nylon sheath for it.

Leather 'cause I'm old fashioned! Actually in my experience leather holds up better over time and looks classier...YMMV :D

Well with the Charge Nylon sheath you can have the pliers open and still put the tool in the sheath and close the cover flap.
With the leather you can put the tool in the sheath but can not close the flap.
Normally I prefer the classic look and feel of a leather sheath....except in salt water enviroments....good call......but with the Charge the nylon is the better bet.
One of the drawbacks for me is the velcro on the nylon sheaths tends to collect debris and fails to velco securely after a while......anyone know a tip to clean velcro?
Leather sheathed tools far outsell the nylon ones in Canada fwtw......
Leather sheath for a Leatherman I suppose :D

I with the majority. If I get a knife ,I will usually find a nylon sheath for it.I have 2 fixed blades in the original leather and thats it on my edc's.

My preference is for nylon also for all tools except the PST. Sometime in the past 2 years, Leatherman started using a generic sized sheath for almost all of their tools. I'm not sure if the new models are included in this but they now use the same sheath for the PST, Pulse and Wave. I like to wear an old PST in a nylon sheath sometimes because it's small and unnoticable. The new, larger sheaths take that featur away. Also, the original Wave sheaths were, I'm pretty sure, made by Bianchi and are great. Now they use the regular which is OK but a definate step down from the original.

I think originally planned, eith the leather sheath, you would be able to have the tool opened up as pliers, insert it into the case and close it.

And it would look like the pic on this page:

But the sheath is too tight and the hole inthe bottom too small for for this to work. When opened, the Charge sits pliers-end down in the sheath but can't be snapped.
