I've been searching online to purchase a Leatherman Charge TTI, and noticed that in many cases the same site may offer several versions with different prices. It could be one with a leather sheath, a nylon sheath, a premium sheath, one with a gift tin, one with a 40 piece bit kit. Very confusing. Don't they all come with a 40 piece bit kit? I couldn't even find a 40 piece bit kit in the accessories. It's very confusing. I wouldn't want to to not buy the one with the 40 piece bit kit and find out I can't find that accessory anywhere else. Or then again find out I could have ordered one for less from someplace else and find out they all come with the same bit kit. Or miss out on a premium sheath. You get my point.

Which one should I get? I really do want a Leatherman Charge TTI. I want the the best blade I can get since I won't be carrying another folder with it.

There are a couple versions of the Charge - one that has scissors and another that doesn't. When I bought mine many years back, I wasn't interested in the scissors because the ones on my previously carried Wave were the only Leatherman component that ever failed me. I still say stay away from the scissors. In my case, those on my Victorinox SAK more than cover my ass in that regard. I highly recommend this tool, but with the 154CM straight blade and the serrated blade that has the seat belt cutter ground in. I use mine daily on the job, and that serrated blade is the most commonly deployed item.

As to the bit kit, I got only a few with my tool, and bought the rest that I need afterward, but as I have said, I bought my Charge a while back, and the deals will no doubt have changed along the way since then.

I bought my Charge at a Pawn shop. No Sheath and no bits. I use the sheath from a Kick. Its a little tight but it works.

Its a great tool. Mine does not have the scissors. What worries me about it , is how strong is the piece that holds the screwdrivers. Im afraid to use much force on them.

If it's like mine then it has the same tools as the Charge ALX listed on the Leatherman website here. I fully understand the concerns about the durabilility of Leatherman tool bit holders. I use mine all the time with the fact in mind that when I really need torque I'll go back to the truck for a real, purpose built screw driver. I use mine for removing and reinserting access hatch covers and control panel doors, and in that role I've never had a problem. I did fumble my tool once over a concrete floor and had it land tip first on a deployed screwdriver bit. My butt puckered and some powerful oaths were sworn, but fortunately no harm was done.

The bit kits can be purchased with or without a nylon belt holster, which is what I did because my tool came with only a few bits and lacked a #6 Robertson bit which is something I use constantly. Fortunately my wife loves me and is a tool totin' chick in her own right, so she found a good deal and ordered me two complete sets, so I'm fixed all the way around.

According to one vendor website, "The Leatherman Charge XTi tool is nearly identical to the Charge Ti, but it includes a unique cutting hook on the end of the serrated blade, does not have scissors, and includes pliers with a crimper." That's what I have.

The charge TTi is the only current model available with titanium scales... Dont confuse it with the aluminum version ALX etc which has 2 variations with and without scissors. Or the retired Ti or XTi. The current TTi has scissors. The standard release comes with a nylon sheath and just a few extra bits (8?). Im sure there may be some differing gift sets (tins, more bits etc)

That cutting hook is very useful, at least in my life.

The cutting hook is very useful.

I paid fifty dollars for my Charge which is exactly like yours, but no sheath or bits. I wanted a fishing tool /edc and its the best one I found. I had to have a hook sharpener and the diamond file works great. Also I wanted a tool to poke the paint out of jig head eyes. The Charge has the eyeglass screwdriver. I just sharpened one side.
