I've been carrying a Supertool 200 since they came out (and an original Supertool before that) because every other multi-tool felt flimsy in comparison. Even the Wave, which when it came out I thought was a work of engineering genius, felt way too flimsy. I've beat the living hell out of my Supertool 200, using it as a hammer on many occasions, prybar, and just about everything else, and it's as solid as the day I got it. I think I could throw it out the window of a moving car and the only damage it would sustain would be a little scratch.

Anyway, I just picked up a Charge TTI, which looked to be "the best" of the current offerings. It seems to be designed well, good lock release, scissors are good things though I haven't tested them yet, the removable pocket clip is great, I'll hate to lose the awl. The clip point blade wasn't quite sharp enough, but I fixed that right away. But will it hold up to regular (and irregular) abuse as well as the Supertool 200?

I have had just about every multitool that leatherman has put out and the Charge Tti is by far, the most rugged tool I have used. Plus the S30V blade will hold and edge better than any other multitool out there. I use mine daily from small task to chores I probably shouldn't use it for and it keeps on ticking just like a timex. Enjoy and use it with confidence.

My experience with a Charge was too brief for a definitive answer, but my strong impression was that my Super Tool (ten years) and ST200 (two years) were more heavy duty than the Charge.

Maybe it was bad luck with a particular sample, but even when working right, it just didn't seem tough as the STs. The only failures I ever had with any Leatherman products that were not not my own dumb fault were with the Charge.

Multi-tool selection is a matter of compromises, and mine shade toward a tool that works like a tool. I have a different standard for pocket carry, in which I am willing to trade a little utility for a smaller package (SAK).

I think maybe for most uses, the Charge would work very well, and it is certainly a big plus to have a one hand opening blade of premium steel, but considering its weight, I would rather carry something more substantial, these days a Core.
