Just got my leatherman juice s2 a few days ago and love it but now I'm wanting more. I know the Wave and Charge are very similar so my main question is do I get a wave or.charge now wait for the Rebar to come out? I think the charge would be my choice but the Rebar has replaceable wire cutter bits and is cheaper. The accessible blades aren't a huge deal for me I always carry a knife with me anyways.

Well, there you go. Get yourself a Charge.

I have them all - of course :) - except the Rebar which is about to be release. Its just so subjective as to what is best that you just gotta get what you like. I sense that you are going to end up with a whole stable of them, so its not so much a matter of this or that, but which one first.

For my part, the Charge is just a spendy Wave. They are pretty much the same tool.

Nice to see you getting addicted to MTs, btw. There's a whole world of MT fun out there, from this forum to multitool.org to Nutnfancy's many good reviews.

haha nutnfancy is actually a big reason I bought my juice s2. His reviews are excellent but all they do is make me want all of them haha. Is there a quality difference between the wave and charge as far as strength, smoothness, and just general fit and finish? Or is the cost purely in the knife blade steel and handle material?

Thats it right there. You get the Charge if you like aluminum or Ti, and 154CM or S30V. You get the Wave if you like the standard "scales", 420HC and the price. But they are essentially the same MT.

Be careful of where you are headed with this MT thing. This about 1/3 of my stash, and a squadron of Leatherman Squirts, SAKs and Victorinox Classics and their siblings are not shown. Others are found in various Man Sacks, glove compartments and a woman purse. Countless Vic Farmers, and discontinued models still in their packages like the knifeless Fuse lineup.

If you can afford it, then get the Charge. I've got the Charge ALX and Charge TTi and although they're similar to the Wave, in my experience they're a bit more comfortable to use, because the handle has rounded edges.

And powernoodle is right, multitools are addictive and a great hobby. There are enough of them to keep you busy for a long time.

Got any you'd like to sell me? Haha

I'm the same way with knives already, and it pretty much has bankrupted me, so I know of the dangers. I'd like to say the charge TTi would be worth it to me, but I'm not sure I want to invest that much money into something yet. Is the charge/wave pocketable at all? I don't want to use a sheath. If the charge/wave/rebar won't be pocketable, I may just go for a Super Tool 300 and go for more functionality.

As you can see, I know all about knife addiction :P and I even forgot to add in my 0551.

Dude, your Batman.

That is awesome.

I'd personally say the charge. It is a much nicer smoother tool IMO. Also the charge comes with a pocket clip, so that will help make it pocketable for you.

 +1 , although the removable pocket clip that comes with the Charge is also available for the Wave as a (not much) extra cost accessory. Depending on what I'm doing, my Charge can ride with me in a belt pouch or by pocket clip. Both carry methods are comfortable and convenient.

This is my group, a few of which I've had for a long time. The Juice, Charge and Skele are my latest additions. I like the Skele and Charge because of the pocket clips, and outside opening knife blades. I sometimes carry one of these clipped to my pocket instead of carrying a normal folding knife. I'm carrying the Charge today for instance, clipped to the pocket of my dress slacks. I bought my Charge used and it didn't come with a clip so I had to buy that separately. In the bottom of my pocket it feels big, but clipped to my pocket I don't even notice it there.

thought I'd post this question here, instead of starting a new thread, and in my searches didnt see that it was answered.

Bits....

I know there is no bit holder on the Rebar, like on the wave, but the Removable Bit Driver adapter kit, the one that can be used with many LM tools, like: Super Tool 300, and Blast, can it be used with the Rebar???

This was the reply I got from Leatherman.

"Thank you for contacting us regarding the Removable Bit Driver fitting the new Leatherman Rebar.

As it appears to have the same Phillips head as the Super Tool 300 I believe it would work on the Rebar.

I hope this information is helpful."

Confirmed: I got the same response from Leatherman. Their website entry for the Removable bit driver, however, has not been updated yet with this information.

I like charge for the pocket clip. I use my tools in the outdoors a lot though and prefer no bit drivers. Just and extra piece to loose IMO. I would be totally fine with them if the bits locked in like on the skeletool.
