Dear Members,

It is with great sadness that I come to you with this news. On Monday, July 28th, one of our dear friends and employee, Jason Leib was killed in an accident on his motorcycle on his way home, just 10 minutes after leaving work. Jason leaves behind 2 little girls and a wife.

Jason Leib was one of our favorites, and loved by everyone here at Emerson knives. Plain and simple, he was a good guy, with a heart of gold. Jason had not been dealt the best hand in life, but he found a place to flourish here at Emerson Knives. In fact so much so, that starting at the entry level just 3 years ago, we promoted him to General Shop Foreman only two weeks ago. You could see in his eyes, his smile and his demeanor how proud he was of his new job. In fact, his wife called my wife Mary yesterday thanking her for everything we had done for Jason. She said he never stopped talking about his job and that he regarded our crew as his second family. Mary said her conversation with her was heartbreaking.

I am going to set up an auction for a special knife, an all Black Roadhouse where all the proceeds will go to Jason's family to help them through this. We will also be accepting straight donations for those of you who want to give something. We will take all donations big or small and even 5 or 10 dollars will help them out. Please dig deep into your heart and pockets to contribute something to his wife and children.
Jason was a good man, a good husband, a good father and in an instant he was gone.

Thank you in advance.

This is really tragic, everybody knows motorcycles are dangerous but we continue to ride them anyway.

I have been a Harley rider/builder/customizer since 1970 (I was half owner of a chopper shop for 15 years) and unfortunately have lost my share of close friends to MC accidents (I have never had an accident although I have come awfully close at times).

Young inexperienced riders are at the most risk as they don't realize that a lot of drivers simply do not yield to a cycle like they would if you where driving your big SUV. A 22 year old young man was killed almost in site of my house earlier this summer. He had purchased the bike (an extremely powerful ricerocket) 2 weeks earlier and had no previous riding experience.

A woman made an un-signaled left turn directly into his path according to witnesses and he hit her car and died at the scene. The woman was ticketed for an "unsafe turn" and that was the end of it. This poor guy was newly married and had a two month old baby.
