Here is a beauty of a framelock by Charles Marlowe. With a 3 1/4" S30V drop point blade and a 7 1/2" OAL, this piece makes a great EDC. As is the norm for Charles, this piece is put together perfectly, and the lock-up and sharp edge are second to none. The orange G-10 backspacer is a great touch and helps you locate the piece at a glance.
There is actually a story as to how I came to acquire this piece from Charles. About a year ago, I bought a older yet somewhat similar framelock by Charles in used condition from Dave Stark at Steel Addiction. The lock bar was a little bit on the stiff side for me, so I ill-advisedly decided to try to adjust it myself and ended up hyperextending it. And when I tried to take the knife apart to bend the lock bar back, I stripped the pivot screw.
Fortunately, Charles was kind enough to offer to fix my folly for me. However, when he received the knife back from me and looked it over, he didn't feel that the knife was up to his current build quality standards. When he offered to build me to build me a new framelock with a similar blade blank, the choice to accept was obvious. This piece is the replacement framelock, and it is quite a bit nicer than the original.
Charles does not plan to add this model to his lineup, but he may have one piece that is a liner lock version of this model on his table at Blade Show this year, so if you like this one, be sure to drop by his table there. Also, I will have this one with me in Solvang tomorrow, so if you're going to be at the show, come find me if you want to check it out.
