These pictures are long overdue, and it's good to finally get them up so Charles can receive his due on the great work he put into this piece. This is a Mongoose (aka Slimline) bali, one of Charles' newest models, and I am blown away by the quality of this particular knife. The blade is constructed of handrubbed 154CM with Charles' trademark crazy-ass sharp edge, and the handles are orange-peeled Ti, anodized bronze. There is a heat colored SS pocket clip mounted to the Mongoose as well. The spacers are black G-10, and, of course, the handle pivots contain IKBS.
The Mongoose is the latest of Charles' bali models to use offset handle pivots, which allow Charles to construct contoured, curved handles that are extremely comfortable to grip, even more so than the straight stick handles typically found on the overwhelming majority of butterfly knives out there. I didn't find that the curved handles required any significant adjustments in order to flip the knife easily, either. And the IKBS helps allow this piece to flip ultra-smooth and absolutely great.
With a 3 3/8" long blade and an OAL of 7 1/2", the Mongoose is compact enough to make a great EDC yet still large enough to use for the overwhelming majority of possible cutting tasks. I will venture to say that along with the Ikoma Guardian Angel, the Mongoose is my favorite bali that I have ever handled, and I've owned multiple pieces from every high-profile custom bali maker out there that I can think of, so I don't dole out this praise lightly.
If you ever get a chance to pick up one of these, don't hesitate to do so. Thanks Charles!
