This beauty is Charles' SOF-A2 folder model, and it has a 4" S30V blade and an 8 7/8" OAL. The bolsters are titanium, and the handle scales are stag. To my knowledge, it is one of only two stag A2 folders in existence.
Charles' painstaking attention to detail is clearly evident in this piece. The fit and finish on the knife is as close to perfect as I've seen on a handmade folder. I have long felt that Charles does one of the nicest handrubbed finishes that you will find anywhere, and the blade finish on this one is certainly no exception. The stag scales match up extremely well with each other and feature arguably the best contouring that I have ever seen in this material on a folder. The action is very smooth, I posted a video of the knife in action here.
A very nice touch that Charles added to this piece is that he jigged the titanium bolsters and anodized the low spots. This allows the pattern of the stag to travel through the entire knife handle instead of getting cut off where the handle scales end.
This A2 is also unique in that it has a drop point recurve blade with a swedge rather than the A2's standard clip point recurve. Personally, I really like this particular non-standard blade profile.
Thanks to Charles for hooking me up with such a great piece! This one's definitely a keeper!
