Charlie is in the process of making this for me. He done his 2x4 test then did this.

Murray Carter does this with his kitchen knives in a video some years ago.. the planes just cut in half every time (when his helper can hit the knife that is)

That looks good though, Charlie makes a great knife!
 
Yes, I don't know which I'm more impressed with the sharpness of the blade or the preciseness at which the plane struck the blade.
 
That reminds me of the scene out of movie about the Crusades i saw in School more years ago than I care to think about. Saladin throws a thin scarf up in the air and lets it fall on his sword's up turned edge and it is cleanly cut in two. John

I can think of so many applications of and modifications to this test! Looking forward to applying them :)
 
I have been led to believe the silk scarf was weighted/wetted on the ends.
