Hello all. I've been grinding a knife today, but I'm having an issue with the grind lines.

In the link is a picture of my jig as well as side 1 and 2 of the knife. The scribe lines are from me chasing the grind lines. As you can see, on side 1, the bevel climbed past the scribe line on the belly, but this didn't happen on side 2. Additionally, I cannot seem to properly grind the tip on either side. Am I pulling the tail of the knife too much or to little?

Thanks

Well now this is a little embarrassing, but I went back out to the shop I was able to mostly straighten things out and fix it. I was just too timid about grinding near the belly/tip.

I would say ......too much :)

I believe so. That likely be why the belly was climbing high on side 1.

I made this jig a couple weeks ago and I've been pretty happy with it so far! I pretty much ripped off the better jigs I saw online :D

I grind in other way , I raise jig when I come to belly trying to follow radius ....I don t like fat belly :)

One more thing ....you know that is very important to set up blade in same position when you flip it to grind other side .

I've been lining it up on both sides by lining the front pin hole on the knife with the correct screw on face of the jig. Easy!

Yeah, tricky if the spine of the knife isn't flat.
Grinding with a jig like that can give you very precise grinds with some practice, but won't teach you about really correcting whoopsies and moving bevels around on purpose. Though you'll probably have to do that less often.
