If you have an irc program set up log onto irc.plar.net and join #BeTactical. Otherwise go to http://www.luminousconcepts.com/BETchat.html or http://www.betactical.com/BETchat.html and you can get to the chat channel with a web-based app -- it's a small window and not as powerful as a real irc program but it does work.

This is a tactically oriented group and there is a certain amount of obscenity in the conversation. I went Wednesday and had a great time.... The Usual Suspects have been getting together regularly on Saturday nights and the Strider Boys are coming for the first time this week. I think some of the HIKV carriers would enjoy it -- especially the more tactically oriented people on this forum.

Expect it to get going around 9:00 Eastern Time and continue late -- Wednesday we didn't break up until 3.

I should explain more ... IRC is Internet Relay Chat -- it's conversation in real time. You type a sentence or two and when you hit the enter key it gets sent to everybody else in the channel -- instantly. Meanwhile everybody else is talking too. When you get five or ten people in a channel it's like going to a party and talking about your favorite subject -- only with people all over the world, people you might never meet face-to-face.

It can be a little confusing the first time but hang in there and you'll catch on. There tends to be a lot of clowning around, people swinging from the chandelier and whacking each other with fish, with serious conversation going on at the same time....

I use the nick Cougarrrr on irc.

The Usual Suspects are the Emerson knife buffs.

Will give it a shot in the next week or so. Given my last training was in COBAL on a mainframe in summer of '79 for a college statistics class, don't expect miracles.

Thanks for great waybill, Cougar. I probably won't be able to find the time to get outside this forum but you never know. If it's confusing I'll probably never be able to do anything with it anyway.
