OK, I hate to keep pestering with this type of question, but can anyone recommend a good knife store/shop/etc I can visit on my upcoming trip to Chatanooga? I'm primarily interested in factory slipjoints...

Thanks again for any help.

Jon

None that I am aware of. Funny with all the wholesaling that goes on there that I do not know of a retail outlet.

Thanks Gus. :( I wonder how long it will take to drive over to the Smoky Mountain store (eknifeworks.com I think)...

Depending on where you are in Chattanooga you are looking at 2-2.5 hours to get to SMKW. It is a neat store and worth a visit.

Take 75 till it merges with 40E than you can go to HWY 66 and go south. It is on your right 10 or so minutes down the road. Traffic through west knoxville is terrible and an alternative might be to go 441 to Sevierville and go North on 66 but i have not done that for 4 or 5 years (I pass through there to fish in the Smokey Mountain National Park alot).

However, I would recommend staying in Chattanooga and checking out the Tennessee aquarium and all the Civil War sites. It is a neat town to visit.

Thanks bandaidman. I'll be driving up Saturday morning and plan on seeing the Aquarium and then probably driving back down to Atlanta the next day. I might just have to drive out to SMKW and then maybe through the park back into Georgia...

Well, I did make it out to SMKW. Neat store, bigger than I was expecting. I really enjoyed all of the displays and was amazed at the quantity of Solingen-made slipjoints. :) Of course there were plenty of Case and other brands, too. I *almost* picked up a Henckels Copperhead (had to go through a few to find one with good snap) but in the end decided to save my money.

Thanks for the tip. :)

It's quite a store ain't it. Lots of history and great collections.
