I just received a Chaves 228. The knife is better than the hype. It truly is a beast but have one question. I sharpen my knives with the lansky system and can get a pretty good edge. I just mocked up the chaves in the clamp and rested one of the stones on the blade to see how the grind would sharpen. It is all good until I hit the upward curve and than seems to be really shallow compared to the grind. Can I sharpen the 228 on this system or will I put a huge bevel and screw it up near the tip?

Honestly on a knife with such thick stock i prefer to not use a sharpening system with a fixed clamp for the blade. If you want to try it i would do the knife in two stges and reclamp closer to the tip and see if that gives you a better angle. I have an apex right now that allows me freedom to move the knife to optimize my efforts. But honestly since making a 4 sided strop and procuring some compound i havent had to tough the apex.

Sharpening threads belong in MTE, as sharpening would be classified as maintenance.

Ah I was afraid of that. I need to find myself an edge pro or wicked edge now.
