I bought this Benchmade 520 with the intention to have it customized. After carrying it for a little while and deciding what I liked and what needed improvement, I sent it off to Chase Axinn (www.chaxknives.com).

The work order was essentially this: blue tweed G10 scales and backspacer, crossweave carbon fiber bolsters, and a satin-finish blade. Chase was a very good guy to work with. When I first got the knife back, there were a couple of things that I thought weren't completely perfect, and he was quick to take it back and tweak everything just right. I got the knife much earlier than I expected, and now it's sitting in my front pocket, the only knife I have that's competing with my Ocelot for carry time.

I'm no product photographer, but I took these quick photos to give you an idea of what Chase's work looks like.

I'm definitely planning to work with Chase again. I'm normally a folder guy, but he has some really neat fixed-blade designs at really nice prices--and of course he'll customize them however you want them. I'll probably look into a small wharnie in tool steel with micarta scales.

(I have no relationship with Chase other than the fact that I had him customize my knife. Just want to make that clear.)

Very unique, just as customs knives should be.

Never seen a knife like it, nor imagined it. It looks great!

That's too cool. I've been planning on getting a knife with blue CF scales ever since I saw that stuff for the first time...pimping a folder with a pair is a rather nice idea.

Hello all

Chase is a great fella to deal with. I recently got my Vaquero Grande back with Black & Blue G10 handles (one of those rehandle jobs he does on rivited zytel handles).

After dealing with him on the custom job, I think one of his fixed blades will be next.
