Not sure, but for what it's worth you'd be money ahead getting a Coote or Grizzly, or for that mater a KMG. The upfront money may be a bit more but it won't wear out like the cheaper ones, the belts being 2x72 last longer and you can get just about any kind you want, easier to grind on with little or no modifications, ect. ect.

Or with a little work you can build your own if your handy.

This is something that bugs me about Craftsmen, they discontinue items out of the blue and then no longer support them. I’ve had one of those “cheap” 1”-2” x 42, 3/4hp belt sanders for a long time. I still use it for handles and various other areas and I’d miss it if it died. I think I paid around a $100 for it and it paid for itself many times over. It’s a shame you can’t get them anymore cause they were a great way of dipping your toe into knifemaking.

Delta makes a 1" x 42" belt sander and 8" grinder available thru home depot catalog and internet sales. go to their site and do a search on belt sander. its probably what sears repackaged as one of their own. im not sure what belts are available for it though. hope i helped

was at sears today, had one of those 2x42s left. i already have one, but almost bought it just to have in case someone else wanted one.
