I am looking for a fairly cheap edc I would like a assist opening knife with little blade play. My price range is 30$-60$ I would like a medium size knife that can take some abuse. I have been looking at the Smith and Wesson m&p knife. I would like the the blade to not be serrated. A drop point or tanto blade is fine.

Whatever you do don't buy a smith and Wesson. Okay so you have a few options. First off I'm assuming that you want an assisted opener, not an automatic. If you do want an auto, get a Boker Kalashnikov auto. Those are the only good ones in your price range. In terms of assisted opening knives in that price range you've got SOG and Kershaw. SOG has the flash and the aegis that are in that price range. From what I've heard they're okay but they have some bladeplay. Your best bet is probably a Kershaw. I don't know a whole lot about Kershaws, I'm more of a mid-price guy. However, head over to BladeHQ or another BladeForums dealer and check out Kershaw's selection. Good luck!
p.s. Kershaw sells a few things at Walmart, but these are cheap products that they make specifically for people who don't give a rip about their knives. Buy online!
