Hi folks, new member....

Lookin to buy old beat up ,badly used bayos to learn a thing or two on,...grinding,buffing,shaping,etc.
I was wondering if anyone had a line on someplace with a large amount of the unsellable (sheath missing, grips missing etc.) that they need to unload.
Already been to ebay/bladebid/BA/gunbroker etc....found some there ,got a few ,but not many at "destroyable" prices available.
last november Smokey Mtn had a pile in the seconds building and i got those @ 1.70 ea.... Any help pointing me towards somewhere to buy a crate at close to scrap $$ would be greatly appreciated
PS: I have NO intention of refurbing to pass as originals, just want to learn a thing or two without ruining good ones.
Thanx :)

Could try Pawn shops and A&N Surplus outlets. Another place is gun and knife shows. I got an old Argentinian Sword Bayonet at one in Westchester about 10 years ago. Think the show was closed by anti-gun crowd but not sure.

Thanx, Ive done that, but none available at ,"oh well i screwed up, time to start over ' prices, lol.
plenty avail here for keeping, or even fixing up, but what i need is basically all the busted, useless to sell as a keeper models i can find.
But those were good suggestions for anybody wanting to start a real bayo collection :)

Raguel3,

Bayonets have become very collectable over the years, and they are no longer the cheap source of metal that they use to be.

You may want to post your request on our knifemaker's forum. Some of the guys may have some damaged steel for you to play with and I sure they can provide some good advice to help get you started in the right direction.

I have seen tons of well priced beater boyos at every gun show I have attended.

Thanx for the advice:)
I hit quite a few Shows in my area(south La.) between here and Miss. coast theres always a show or a flea open somewhere.
Have to start pickin up a few at a time.

Thanx Rev, already been there in November though.
enikeworks is actually the web arm of Smokey Mtn Knifeworks in Sevierville Tn.
They have a smaller bulding out front of the giant store that sells off all the seconds, broken, scratched, box missing, etc stuff they have.
I picked up several there, but Wendy (customer support) tells me that the seconds building hasnt got anymore bayos right now.

Actually Im too familar with smoky. My parents have a home in wears valley (off 321), in the foothills of the smokies, on the west side (like your going toward townsend).

I remember when pigeon forge was nothing more than a two lane road a couple cheap motels and the small homes there.
That was when gatlinburg was the "main attraction". Now pigeon forge is worse than branson missouri. A "tourist trap" Its gotten so bad (congested)that I do not even go down there much anymore. Nothing wrong with visiting there, but its not big enough to "hold" all the tourists, its gotten ridiculous. Last april was the 1st time in years that I went down there to stay with my parents and visit.

Now,
You have to be careful with them (smoky), they sell many seconds at smoky (some are sold that are seconds, but not listed as such, they are usually in the catalog). Since you've been there, you probably know the rest, or if going long enough figured it out.

You just have to be careful what you buy.

As fars as bayonets though, you can get anything there, like you could anywhere else.

Yeah its booming alright, i lived in Knoxville for few years 89-91, spent every weekend in Smokeys. even then it was still small, hadnt even built Dollywood yet
Wears Valley is stunning, Fiance' and i are lookin into buying a rental cabin up there. We come every year, usually as the season is winding down(i like the cold).
And yeah, ya have to watch everyone these days when you buy high dollar items, nature of the world i guess.
but i must admit, ive always got good deals from Smoky mtn.
Now Gatlinburg? my God you couldnt pay me to drive through town, geeeze.

hehehehehe... I now hat you mean!!! When I went last year I made the mistake of going through there in the fternoon. Only took me an hour to drive from the bennets bar-q in pigeon forge through gatlinburg. I dont know what I was thinking? I had just got done eating some carolina style pork and thought, "might as well try". big mistake!!!!

I liked the area better when there were no outlet malls, and stores!!!! Generally it was only the tourists that liked to camp that went there!!!!

When my dad was young, 1930's, there was only a dirt road there!!!! Everything was natural.

...now??? sad. Whats really sad for me personally, is all the ridiculous cabins and tourists frequenting 321 now. I use to travel there in peace.....not no more...
