Hey guys, I am Jesse. New guy.

So i am not sure about the rules and regulations here. If this is out of line delete it please. I have been searching for a budget sheath. I have a becker bk2. I decked her out with tommys scales. Beautiful by the way. As for the sheath i dont have the money or leverage with the wife to buy a nice patriot leather or sedgwood sheath. I wanted leather it compliments the natural wood scales. So i went to the bay. The blade seems to be 1 3/4" wide obviously 1/4" thick and 5 1/4" long. With these dimensions i found a few nice scout carry sheaths around $25 shipped. I am not going to say it is high quality but it is nice. Not really heavy and in no way over built. I actually split some of the threading at the bottom trying to get the handle in a little. That sucked but lesson learned. This thing works and for the money i couldnt ask for much more. If it last a few months i will be more than happy. I am saving and buying the wife and my newborn daughter some stuff so by the time this thing gives. I will have enougha leverage to get a real sheath. Made for my knife. For the time being this is what i have. Sorry for rambling.

This is the spot i split the threads. Grabbed the black out of this little survival thread and needle kit i had laying around.

Def $25+ of material and labor there (USA anyway...)
Good find, what really matters is if it works for you and it appears to fulfill that and then some.
Very nice, thanks for sharing!

Too cool.

I know you are partial to leather, but if you need something stout and over built try the Spec Ops Combat Master short. It's a great sheath and not too spendy. My 2 has been tucked in mine since I got it. Love it.

It works tomorrow will be my first day carrying it and using it all day. I will get a good idea of how i like it. If it hold up well i will make a dangler strap for it.

I have seen that sheath very nice. I really thought about doing that with micarta or a more synthetic man made look. Once i seen tommythewho's wood handles. I fell in love had to go natural. Very nice setup though gotta love the 2.

Can be fun to make your own sheaths. I'm partial to leather myself.

I would love to learn. I know how to sew and i am good with my hands. I am no artist and i dont have any specific tools for it. I do always like a good challenge and reward after its accomplished.

Be careful. These same questions have been known to lead into knife-making as well.

I wish i have seen alot of amazing homemade knives. I really dig the guys that take an old rasp file and cut n grind them into bowie style knives. They have such a mean look.

Congrats obj the sheath and the baby.

There are those of us around here that are willing to share experience and give advice on making. Sagewood helped me out when I first started making. I never expected to be where I am now; especially after making my first one. Don't be afraid to ask. :)

Thanks everyone for the advice and encouragement to do some leather working. Thank you all for the congrats on my daughter she is my one and only. At 6 months old she already knows the first rule of knife safety. Dont have it out(of the sheath) unless you are using it.

She has been a Becker Head since she is in diapers. I was taking the picture and my wife was sitting right next to her ready to grab it once she started going to put it in her mouth.

I can hear her thoughts ...

"mmmm ... 1095CV ... yummy!"

"Batoning? pffft! Let's see how this stands up to teething!"
