Cheap Chinese Rapier?

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone own one of those 50-100 dollar Chinese made rapiers that you can get off Ebay?
The reason I am asking, is because my girlfriend and I go to the Renn Faires, she does not have a sword to wear, has garb, just no sword.
I want to get her a cheap good looking piece to wear around, it will not actually be used, but I want to know if it is possible to take one apart kinda easy so I can lathe a better looking handle out of wood, seeing as how that is the only part that would actually be seen.
I am thinking something out of "Purple Hart" wood, just to make it kinda feminine, most of her garb is purple and black.
I was just hoping that the pommel screws off, and guard slips off. The most metal working I want to do is something that can be done with a Dremmel, you know like grind off a spot weld or something if I have to, and maybe Lock-tite stuff back down.
Thanks for any advice guys.

For a costume piece buying something cheap somewhere should be just fine. Typically their pommels do screw off although some are glued on as well and you have to break the glue before it unscrews. With as many offerings as are available, I'd just buy one with a handle you like rather than one with a handle you don't.

Well if your going to just go and customize your gear, why not just buy a blade and go from there. (doesn't CAS Iberea do that?) (I mean selling schlager blades as replacements)
