Cheap flippers?

I'm interested in non AO knives with flippers, with AUS-8/440C (or better) steel, in the sub-$50 range. Something to get my feet wet, try one out without breaking the bank. Not worried about something bulletproof/acidproof/sheepleproof, just something that will let me experience a flipper.

Does this sort of production knife even exist? Most flipper knives I've seen are either customs or very high-end (and therefore $$$expensive!)...

CRKT M16. Non AO flipper that you can certainly find for ~$50. I don't have one, but all the people I know who have them (on the forums and in real life *gasp*) are big fans. The steel is decent, the blade shape and grind are nice, the construction is solid, and the whole package is pretty stylish.

I was going to say the same thing. CRKT M-16 / M- 21 are the only non assisted ones i can think of with the flipper.

Actually maybe the Kershaw Splinter? I think that one is around $50 too.
I think there are a few other non-assisted Kershaws out there like this too.

Kazeryu, keep an eye out for our new Cyclone (MSRP $89.95), and Cyclone Jr (MSRP $79.95). Double action AO's with a flipper, Sandvik steel, Onion design, US made. Sweet knife. Due out in March.

flippers... do you mean bali's?
nope, not bali's. Flippers have a little tab on the blade which pokes out the 'spine' of the handle when closed. You can flick the knife open by pusing on the tab. A bunch of kershaw knives have a similar feature, but are mostly AO, which doesn't interest me right now.

The CRKT M-16 and M-21 are excellent examples of what I was looking for. I'd be interested in hearing about any similar knives.

Gerber Firestorm. It is not adverstised as a flipper, but it has the metal on the blade that protrudes through the spine of the knife.

Camillus Heat - cheaper version of DDR design used in Dominator as well. Aus8 steel, zytel handle and assisted opening.

edit:

oops you are interested in non AO knives only. My bad.

I have a CRKT M21 and a bunch of M16's and like them very well. I have 3 CRKT M18's. They also have the flipper. You can find them on EBAY in your price range.

While the M16 and Storm will both fit your needs, I suggest the Storm over the M16. The Storm is a very nice knife that is of very fine quality for the price. CRKT are cheapies that aren't too horrible for the price.
