What are some solid G10 knives from reputable companies in the sub-50$ pricerange? I currently own a G10 Byrd and I'm happy with it, want to know what else with this handle material is available in the price-range.

Like you I have a G-10 Byrd and like it a lot, but can't really think of any other G-10 knives in the sub $50 range off the top of my head.

I think the Cold Steel Recon folders in G10 are around 50$, but they aren't really my style from the looks of them. That's all I've come up with.

If you can find them. Case XX made some of their knives with orange G10 and the Blade-Tech Mouse is made of G10. It is only a little more than the $50 price range. I think you can get it in the mid $60s. Also in the mid $60s is the Kershaw Leek in G10. Kevin

hmm this is years ago but spyderco imported a model called the solo that had g10 handles with 3 inch or so aus10 blade for i think 25 or 29 bucks. its off their website but if you shoot them an email perhaps they have some hidden off somewhere.

I'm drawing a blank. Once bought Spyderco Rookies and Standards under 50, but nothing like that lately.

The Kershaw avalanche isn't what I'd call cheap (it's 80 bucks), but consider that you get G10, S30V and AO and it starts to sound pretty dang affordable...

this has weighed on my mind for along time now.

why arent there more entry level g10 offerings from reputible companies, when there is a flood of CCCs in g10 everywhere you look.

I picked up a new Kershaw Avalanche on Ebay recently for less than $50. it is the older version with an S60V blade. The CRKT Contrail has G10 handles and can be found on Ebay for well under $50. There are 2 sizes of them and they both weigh less than 2 ounces. I have a few of them and have no complaints. The older CRKT M16 FD (fireman)models have G10 handles. Those also go for around $50 on Ebay. Just make sure the model number doesn't have a "z" at the end which is the newer model with a Zytel handle instead of G10.

I never seen a cheap G-10 knife, but then i haven't looked at the rest of the knife on all of them. If you can get a Recon I for under $50 your either real lucky or you did a lot of leg work. Don't wait anymore because the price is going to go up.

Lots of cheap G-10 knives if you don't care about the brand name. Maxam and Mtech. Blade steel is 440A. I know, no flames please. The quality is on the low end but the guy asked to thought I'd answer.

Regards

Benchmade's new knife, the Vex, has G-10 handle scales. MSRP is 60.00, but of course they'll be cheaper (40 - 50) at the dealers.
...I preordered 4 of them directly from BM (1 for myself, 3 for friends) at the 60.00 tag, since I think even that is a heck of a deal.

Without getting into the whole ripoff debate with that knife, I wonder how that knife will perform with it's similar steel to the Byrds, but only 57-58 RC instead of the 61 RC for the Byrd steel. Seems like it wouldn't hold an edge as well and would be tougher to sharpen than the Byrds. I also prefer lockbacks, so for my tastes I will stick with my $22 G-10 Cara Cara Byrd, but the Vex it isn't a bad looking knife.

in regards to the rip-off debate: since the agreement is confidential, i wonder if De Asis pulled the, "where would you be if i haddnt made the first batch of spydercos for ya, Sal!!! you owe me b!tc#!" :p (im half way joking)
