I'm looking for a good cheap hatchet that I can use mainly for throwing and medium chopping. What are some things I should look for? Good sites? Info? Thanks for your time. :)

Searched for it on the internet but couldn't find it. Looks nice, thought it would be expensive. Are we talking about Lowe's hardware stores? Thanks.

I have seen the Lowes Task Force Hatchet at my Lowes....around $10....

Also my Lowes and my Walmarts caried the Fiskars Hatchet (Same thing as the Gerber Sport Axe/hatchet with OAL of 14"......They seem to be super tuff, I wonder how they would hold up to throwing....

Yes Ok For Kindlin And Choping But No Good As A Thrower

As The Handle Has A Curve At The Toe

I've got a fiskars axe that I use for random outside jobs. It's pretty light compared to most hatchets you would find at a hardwares store, but the handle is so light that the weight distribution is still correct. I was swinging this all day last weekend and didn't get exahsted. They're sharp and the blade is fairly tuff (as well as the poll for tent stakes and such). I've not learned to throw yet, so I can't comment on that, but the handle does have a lip on the end, which I believe is bad for a good throw. Last comment, the handle is fairly slick, and easy to loose with sweaty hands. I wraped mine with one of those racquet handle replacement rolls and is great now. Friction tape would probably work just fine too.
