hey, I was wondering if anyone could recomend any butterfly/balisongs that are not too expensive. I want to get 2 matching ones, and I am a poor college student, I want some that aren't going to fall apart though. I once had one that broke while I was in the middle of flipping it, and it went sailing away from me.

Welcome to the forums. :)

I suggest you try out the Jaguar balisongs. It's a good enough bali for the price. You can buy them from www.knifezilla.com or www.1sks.com . The only thing you have to worry about the Jaguar balis are the pins, but these should be easily replaceable.

Hope that helps.

This subject comes up all the time and shows the need for a decent quality-under $50 butterfly knife. The new ones coming up are great but all higher price range.
If you hunt around and check the sale posts you find 80's era Japanese balis popping up for sale sometimes. The "cheaper,low-end" versions are still superior to whats available in that price range today. I recall sniperboy selling a group of balis that included some Valor and Star brand Japanese balis.in the sale section. Last year I bought some Star brand and Dixie cutlery brand balis that remind me of Parker Gypsy's only not finished as well-but they are just as strong. They are not Tayor manila folders by any stretch of the imagination but worthy practice balis if priced reasonably. I paid 25 bucks for these and for that price they are OK.

Get a couple of Jags from KnifeZilla.com :) As mentioned, the pins will stretch and loosen conderably as you gain more endurance and start flailing a little  ....but it really is easy to replace the pins and you won't have to spend a ton of money to have something relatively balanced to get started! Have fun!!
