Princeton Tec Impact. Another awesome job on this one. I have the Attitude and it's great, but the Impact blows it away. Single LED, beam focus by some optical magic and 4 AA's that last over 100 hours. It does cast the 150 feet as stated on the pack. Awesome small, waterproof light for $25 bucks. Highly recommended.

I saw the Impact II but like the AA aspect of the orginal. My GPS is AA so spare batteries are interchangeable. Plus, in the boonies, AA is still more available than the AAA. That was the only reason I chose the original, but the II is pretty cool.

I personally recommend the CMG Reactor...the cheapest Lux-Star flashlight in the market so far...Its really bright and the construction solid.

U are however limited to using Lit AAs batteries if U want the output to be at it brightest. Alkaline AAs could also be use, but the output would be less desirable. According to one flashlight evaluation website(sorri can't remember the website) If Lit AAs was used, the output would be consistently high till for 10hrs before it drop to the level of Alkaline AAs.

I compare the PT Impact & the Reactor using similar batts side-by-side and I dare say that the Reactor is slightly brighter, but the Reactor have a "further" reach.

If U can, take your time to choose a CMG Reactor properly as I have seen my frz's Reactor coming with a slight greenish tint...a QC problem from Lux-Star recently.

My 2 cents!!!

I have all three of those PT LEDs and it is hard for me to choose which is better. I like the Attitude because it has better workable light for me as it spreads the beam out. I like the Impact because it can shine farther and is tough, but the Impact II is easier to stuff in a pocket. My most favorite Princeton Tec LED is the Aurora head lamp, nothing like having both hands free to do stuff. I have been going for night walks lately and use the Aurora, plenty of light for waiking.

Probably the cheapest light w/ brightest output would be the Brinkmann Legend LX - uses 2 123-type lithium batteries like the surefires, but cost is about $20 at your local Walmart, compared to over $40 for the cheapest of the surefires. The light output is about as bright as my Streamlight Scorpion or Surefire 6Z (although the 6z has a much smoother beam, the Legend LX's beam can be improved w/ a piece of WriteRight film on the lens). Best of all (imo), the LX does not have a costly lamp assembly - it uses bi-pin bulbs which run a about $2-3 each.

I just like this one because of the cheap batteries available everywhere and long burn time. I will sacrifice brightness for the security of knowing I can pull the light from the glovebox and have workable light.

I will check Surefire though for those night walks, etc...
