Cheap Knife + New Steel = fun?

So I've run the gammet as a "maker".

I've ground out several kitchen knives, mostly when I had access to a 12" variable speed Bader.

Recently I've been purchasing blades and placing handles on them, most of them "bushcraft" style Scandinavian blades, some more American style bowies.

However, I don't really use them much. I used pocket knives.

And I've been thinking about purchasing some inexpensive knives that can be disassembled, and rebuilding them to something I like more.
Think of it as a mod, but with better steel. I will be farming out the Heat Treat on the steels.

Being a southpaw, I reallly like waved knives and spyderco's with their holes, they typically stick out of the top of a folded knife and are easier to open, expecially on frame locks.

I have several inexpensive kershaws that were gifted to me that I never carry, due to them being very difficult for a lefty to open. I'm thinking about starting there.

Also, looking at different lock types and the ease of retrofitting a new blade to them, I'm thinking about purchasing some Cold Steel Pocket Bushman's... as those look about as easy as it gets to replace a blade and have it lock up well.

I don't have access to much machinary anymore, so I'm not that interested in starting from scratch. And the designs out there are fairly mature and proven, (I'd rather reuse the materials that are already out there but unused.)

What are your thoughts on lock types and replacing their blades?
Any other threads that have been started on this? I did a basic search and didn't find any.

Thanks,

Dave

I'd be interested in an M390 blade for my Sebenza 25.Or one for my Microtech Socom Delta. Think you could duplicate that? I mean, is this kinda what you're getting at? I know it isn't a cheap knife, but hey, if you could do that, then you could do anything...
