Does anyone have any info on this knife? It is a ~$12 folding stiletto made by Kriegar (sp?). I've seen many pictures and descriptions, but nothing really detailed.

I'm lovin' the buffalo handle, and I know it isn't the stereotypical Italian stiletto switchblade, because it's (a) sold in Canada, and (b) has a nail pick, but I want to know: is it a slippie or is there a lock I can't see on the picture? And any other info on this knife would be appreciated.

If it is anything close to what it looks like it should have a lock. My guess would be a spring with a hole at the handle back which fixes the blade in open position. To close the knife yur have to pull it. That is how it works with many knives of this traditional shape.
Otherwise I would not expect anything much from this knife. Blade steel is crap and lots of play...

Kissing Crane makes a similar knife, and probably is of better quality. I would check it out.

I'd pass on this Kriegar, just by the specifications. Looks like junk.

EDIT: Here it is. Even though it is made in China, I hear good things about them.

With this knife, it wasn't really all about quality. I just want a junk stiletto that I can throw around and not worry about. And Poez, I think you just described a slipjoint, which was my initial take on this knife. Vanguard, for a cheap knife like this I mostly just care about looks, and that writing on the blade of the KC stiletto looks kinda pointless and trashy, so I'm gonna pass on that one. Does anyone own this knife? I remember someone mentioning they were carrying one in the EDC thread.

I am obviously not that good at describing it. If you look closely at the picture Vanguard41xx put in his post you will probably see that this knife has got a lock and it loks the blade in open position. Very similar to backlock - not the slipjoint.

A google search of Kriegar knives turned up only the places that sale these knives. The only thing that came close to telling who they were was found at BudK Knives;

Kriegar Knives offers classic straight razors, folding razors and folding stiletto knives. Folding razors and straight razors are forgotten classics that are reminiscent of a time of barber shops and hand shaves. Now you can own an elegant looking and custom folding razor for as low as $12.99 from BudK. Kriegar Knives and BudK have combined to offer classic stiletto folding knives for as little as $16.99. You'll fall in love with the Stiletto knife design, the sleekness, elegance and detail. Kriegar knives make for unique gifts and look great in a knife collection. Now is your chance to get a great deal on new Kriegar stiletto knives and folding razors.

If you are looking for a "junk" knife, your words, not mine,:), then you have probably found one. I wouldn't expect a lot of performance from the knife, but it is in the classic stiletto style, which I like.:thumbup::)

BTW; that google search did turn up a couple of youtube reviews for this knife, if you are interested in watching them.

The one in your original post has a lock (you can faintly see the tab in the photo).
I'd recommend getting a Falcon instead. Made in Italy, I can vouch for the excellent quality (for the money...).
Also... Traditional Italian stilettos were NOT automatics. That came later.
