Penn State Industries has turning blocks that are 1.5 X 1.5 X 12 in Cocobolo, Bocote,Purpleheart, Goncalvo Alves and Bloodwood, priced at $3.95 to $4.95 each. Here's their URL:

I've dealt with them before, the wood is good clear stock with waxed ends and they give good prompt service.

....buying wood without looking at it first is not a good idea, having said that....gilmer in oregon knows what knifemakers want....the wood i have bought from him on several occasions has been as good or better than stuff i hand picked myself...
