Check these out: http://jerkingthetrigger.wordpress.com/2010/05/07/bargain-outdoor-products-3-pack-ultimate-dry-sack/

These Outdoors Products Ultimate dry sacks are great if you understand their limitations. I have been using them to keep gear organized on hikes, camping trips, and even normal travels. They are VERY light weight but have proven to be pretty durable. The bright colors make them easy to find in a bag and they are waterproof enough to be submerged briefly. The best part is you get a 3 pack with 3 different sizes for $10 (cheap enough to make me consider using them over trash bags and zip-locks)! I figured these would be right up my fellow Rat Pack's alley.

I've used those bags as emergency electronics storage since a little before last summer. Always good results. I need to pick up some more.

Mike and I have been pondering a good dry-sack for some time. While the ones you have posted are excellent, what we ware looking for is something that works for a passport/papers without rolling the top. There are several "non-rolling" sacks available but so far we haven't found one we really like.

Jeff, have you tried any of Alok-saks? They come in a about a million different sizes and have a heavy duty zip-lock type closure.

Jeff how about the Watershed Bags / Zip Dry Bags. I just bought one of the military versions and those are the greatest dry bags that I've ever tried.

I just had someone on another forum share with me that they used these bags on a deployment to Iraq and they held up perfectly. That is a pretty strong endorsement.

I love these Bags. I use the granite gear dry saks. They work great! I use them for soft things like extra socks, and clothing I might not wear or only wear sometimes (such as a a sweater for when it gets cooler at night) If I do put hard eqquip. in the bags I put it between my soft equipp. so there is no chance of tearing or poking holes in the bag. Even objects that don't have sharp or pointy eadges can damage your bag if that object is hard and is dropped on another hard object Such as a rock or dead hardwood) pinching the bag between the two hard objects. When I have my dry sacks packed I pack them inside my main bag. One of the great thing about these bags is they come in different colors so you can organize everything by color.

Good tips! I haven't punctured any of mine yet, but I do tend to be careful in the same ways that you listed.

Thanks Matthew. I had a bag with a pack of C cell batteries in the bottom and never thought twice about it because there were no sharp edges or points. That is untill I dropped the bag on a smooth rock. All it took was the weight of the batteries and the impact to split the bag. And the color coating was an accident. I bought three diff colors just because I'm so indecissive and the thought crossed my mind while packing one day.
