I'm looking for a cheap well made multitool for fresh water and some salt water fishing. I've had a SOG Powerlock, a Leatherman Juice and a LM Squirt, none used for fishing, but I am familiar with those models. I now leave a LM Wave in my truck, sometimes easier than rooting around in my toolbox for a screwdriver etc. Anway, I'd like to get a multitool I can leave in my tackle box, but want one that isn't going to be rusted out when I go to use it. I know that the Charge has 154CM blades, but the rest is what, 440a at best? I don't wanna ruin a good MT. As for uses, I'm looking for a pair of scissors, a serrated blade I can use for utility work (I already have some Moras and Rapalas, and Salts, so I'm covered in the blade dept), a hook puller, small pliers, flat head and philips screwdriver, anything that could be used on your rod, reel, fish etc. Cheap may be the wrong word, I'm looking for something well made from good steel, at least 440c, that is not expensive but is of at least good quality. I already have an el cheapo Wal Mart multi tool that I just bought for the ratchet on it, same size as the nut on a reel. Do you guys carry anything in particular with you in either your tacklebox or on your boat? Thanks in advance.

I throw on the boat 2 years ago and old Leatherman Wave.
3 weeks ago I found it and stills in there and no rust at all, I just sprayed WD-40 and cleaned it, no problem.
Mine is in salt water.

The Gerber Fisherman Tool?

I have the above, good for getting hooks out, but not for leaving in a tacklebox. Rusts like nobody's business.

I use a Gerber 400 on the boat, similar to the fisherman one two posts up. I don't have a problem with rust, and the one handed opening is worth it's weight in gold.

I really like that fisherman one, never seen it before.

I got one of these 2 years ago and love it. Winchester makes a cheaper copy of it, but it's a bit heavier.

I use a custom Gerber Pro-Scout for fishing. The flick-out pliers are worth their weight in gold.
