What are some cheap (sub $50) woods knives of good quality? The RC-4 isn't working for me and I'm thinking of selling it. Thanks.

what about a becker BK11? or plain edge kabar? both can be had under $50 and 1095 steel IMO is an awesome steel for use in the woods.

Why isn't it working for you? Knowing what you're looking for will help tremendously.

I have a BK11 and I like it very much. I'm looking for a blade around 4-5" and about 1/8" thick. The RC-4 is just too thick....too cumbersome and it doesn't get as sharp or cut as well as the bk11.

What do you want for your RC4? Take a look at my trhread I posted on both the EESE forum and Trade Forum.

You might want to take a look at some of the new offerings from Condor. Very good quality, at a very low price.

Get yee to WallyWorld - a Buck 119 Special - 6" clip point of 420HC - is only ~$38 there. It is a 7.5 oz USA-made classic - with a .175" spine, Al butt cap and finger guard, and nylon or leather sheath (imported). Try it - don't mistreat it - if you don't like it, you can likely return it. Les Stroud, Discovery Channels 'Survivorman', used one on a couple of episodes.

Mora is good if you want a slicer.
email me about the RC4 if you're serious about sale/trade -- I have some unused Mora's laying around we could work a trade with.

CS Bushman, Mora in nearly any flavor and/or KA-BAR USMC Fighting Knife.
Thar ya go...
